How we price (Fair / Deal / Stretch)
What Deal, Fair ask, Stretch, and Thin market mean.
GrailHawk does not invent prices. Fair / Deal / Stretch / Thin bands use the evidence available for the same search intent. A browse-page live floor requires multiple recent, high-confidence fixed-price eBay matches; otherwise the surface falls back to a printing-scoped typical reference or no price.
The bands
- +Deal — the ask is meaningfully below our reference (sold + asks + tracked).
- +Fair ask — within a normal band of the reference.
- +Stretch — above the reference; only buy if the printing or condition is special.
- +Thin market — not enough sold comps or live asks yet; treat any number as a starting point.
Sources
Current listings can come from eBay and participating Shopify catalogs. Qualified browse floors retain recent fixed-price eBay evidence only. Shopify results can be displayed and linked but are not retained as price history, and current auction bids are excluded from browse floors. Optional eBay sold comps can add context when available.
Match the printing first
Wrong art, wrong parallel, or wrong grade creates fake deals. Always confirm card ID, art treatment, and grade before trusting a band.
