How we price (Fair / Deal / Stretch)

What Deal, Fair ask, Stretch, and Thin market mean.

GrailHawk does not invent prices. Every Fair / Deal / Stretch / Thin band is computed from live asks, sold comps when available, and the tracked floor we store from prior scans.

The bands

  • +Deal — the ask is meaningfully below our reference (sold + asks + tracked).
  • +Fair ask — within a normal band of the reference.
  • +Stretch — above the reference; only buy if the printing or condition is special.
  • +Thin market — not enough sold comps or live asks yet; treat any number as a starting point.

Sources

We blend eBay Buy It Now medians, optional eBay sold comps (when Insights is enabled), Shopify dealer asks when present, and our nightly tracked lows. Auctions use an estimated final — never rank on the current bid alone.

Match the printing first

Wrong art, wrong parallel, or wrong grade creates fake deals. Always confirm card ID, art treatment, and grade before trusting a band.
