Base Set: Charizard, Shadowless, and 1st Edition
Base Set is the foundation of English Pokémon collecting. The same holo can be three different markets: 1st Edition, Shadowless, and Unlimited. Wrong print-run comps create fake deals.
Identify the print run
Look for the 1st Edition stamp left of the art. No stamp: check the right edge of the artwork box — no drop-shadow means Shadowless; a drop-shadow means Unlimited.
Charizard leads, but match grade
1st Edition Shadowless Charizard headlines the set. Within a print run, PSA 10 vs PSA 9 vs raw are separate markets. Sort listings by printing first, then grade.
How to buy
Open the exact card page, confirm print run in photos, then set an alert or add owned copies to Portfolio. Prefer clear scans of edges and surface on raw vintage.

Is Shadowless the same as 1st Edition?
No. 1st Edition cards have a stamp and are also Shadowless. Shadowless without the stamp is a later print run that still predates Unlimited.
Why is Unlimited Charizard cheaper?
Unlimited had a much larger print run. Demand still exists, but comps must stay within Unlimited — never mix with 1st Edition or Shadowless asks.
